This painting is indeed a challenge. It has set now for...I don'no, wull sense my last entry. Trying to decide what to do next. For a good while all I could seem to consider was that roof. In actuality it is a Mexican tiled roof. So trying to visualize how to emulate the tiles. Haven't solved that yet so I decided to work on the reflection instead. I stopped today while I'm still excited about the grass and some small trees that come next hoping I'll not stall anymore and get on with it. The funny thing is that while I'm in the moment, I'm lovin' it!!! There's still lots to be done, it is not near being finished but I'm encouraged by how it's going now.

Again, plywood only this time it's acrylics. This is the view across the playa lake from my apartment. I really love the red doors. They are the back doors to a strip mall building on the busy street over. The colors change with the weather and the time of day and I love that too. I've never tried to do something so linear before and it's testy. Challenges my usual brush in hand. We'll see how it all works out. This one may take a while, we'll see about that too.
Oil on plywood...yes plywood. When you're ready to paint any surface will do. Not too long after moving to San Angelo, Texas, I was feeling like we'd moved to the end of the earth. We'd come from North Carolina where there were trees everywhere and they were green year round. San Angelo was quite the opposite. The subject of this painting was birthed from that barren feeling. This, along with a couple other of my paintings hung in the Library of San Angelo State University in a continuing ed. class display. As usual my Mother had this framed. A black frame with a silver metal strip around the inside of the frame. Well done on her part. This is one of my favorites.

This portrait is the only one I have done. It is a good representation of my Dad taken from a photo. I'd had a few lessons in a community art class setting when this was painted. I don't think that my abilities include the ability to paint portraits. This took a very long time trying to get it right. I think being so emotionally involved with the subject matter was probably the most influential element in the ability to "see" the subject clearly. It was and is amazing to me that my eye can see something in the natural, but the emotional aspect of the actual interpretation of what I was seeing here was very difficult to clarify. Well that was as clear as mud, just hoping you understand what I'm trying to say. As a lot of little girls, my Daddy was nearly everything to me in so many ways, I loved him so. He could just do anything, my hero for all of my childhood and even into my adulthood. He was a good man.

I've had this one on the blog before and had removed it. It is now in it's forever home. A very good friend of mine asked me to do a painting for her. So, I started this one and stalled out on it. It just wasn't going well so I put it aside until another friend, much later, said, "just fix it". I fixed it! I have passed it on to the one it was painted for. It symbolizes our friendship on many levels and that's a long story with a happy subject and ending.

Back in the day....I was all about raising the kids and the standard lunch of PBJ and a cold glass of milk (whole milk) was the first choice every day. This painting was done while the kids were still small and was an exercise for a community center art class...my first real art instruction.

This is a way old painting. Before I had any kind of lessons or classes this was done for my Mother. Her fave flower was the Daisy. As with all the paintings I gave her, she graciously framed it and as almost all paintings, it looked pretty good in a frame.

This is new. It's oil with a little sparkle. I've decided that I do have a favorite color after all and it is all colors blue. After moving into my new Senior Living complex I decided to get back to my most favorite hobby, painting and this work is the first. Mainly it's an exercise in just getting back to it and lovin' that stirring in me.

Got my Master's in child rearing, my PhD in marriage, a post doc in grand parenting. Working on my first degree in senior living. With all that comes my love of, not all things, but some things "art". More especially the Creator's Art and Design and my attempt at copying it. I'm lovin' putting the color on the canvas. Sometimes a short story added of the subject matter that I hope will enhance/endear the art to the looker.
