1981

Oil on plywood...yes plywood.  When you're ready to paint any surface will do.  Not too long after moving to San Angelo, Texas, I was feeling like we'd moved to the end of the earth.  We'd come from North Carolina where there were trees everywhere and they were green year round.  San Angelo was quite the opposite.  The subject of this painting was birthed from that barren feeling.  This, along with a couple other of my paintings hung in the Library of San Angelo State University in a continuing ed. class display.  As usual my Mother had this framed.  A black frame with a silver metal strip around the inside of the frame.  Well done on her part.  This is one of my favorites.
